Membership

Congregation Emanu-El Israel is pleased you have shown an interest in joining our community. Congregation Emanu-El Israel is a proud member of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and is a Reform Jewish Congregation.

Our congregation offers regular Shabbat and Holiday services, Religious and Hebrew School, Adult Education, Sisterhood, Men's Club activities. Our congregation is dedicated to providing Jewish religious, cultural and social activities through many and varied events which are enjoyed by our members and guests. When the time arrives for Bar and Bat Mitzvah training, our Rabbi works closely with each family to properly prepare for them this milestone event, ensuring that this passage into Jewish adulthood is a truly special and befitting commemoration.

To maintain a house of worship and have a rabbi available for the community throughout the year requires a dues structure for members. At Congregation Emanu-El Israel, we have established a "fair share" dues structure based upon income. This structure seems to work for most people. Nevertheless, our policy is to make it possible for every Jew to be a member regardless of personal circumstance. We strive to be a spiritual community committed to a culture of kindness, trust and respect. We do not exclude anyone based on financial need. If you wish to make payment arrangements or have a confidential discussion about your financial circumstances, please contact the CEI Office at 724-834-0560.

Deciding whether to join a synagogue, and which one, can be challenging. We hope the membership information will answer some of the questions you may have about Congregation Emanu-El Israel.
